sepsis

according to http://www.nlm.nih.gov:

Sepsis is a severe illness caused by overwhelming infection of the
bloodstream by toxin-producing bacteria.
In sepsis, blood pressure
drops, resulting in shock.
Major organs and systems, including the kidneys, liver, lungs, and
central nervous system, stop functioning normally. And mind you,
the mortality rate is more than 50%.

I am blogging about this because my family had a really close encounter
with this a few months back. and boy was it a real scare. instead of a
holiday planned in san remigio, we ended up holed in a local hospital.

despite the thousands of pesos spent on meds, hospital bills, docs fees,
not to mention the sleepless nights in the hospital, i am so thankful to
God for giving my dad a new lease on life.
thanks also to my tita doc who was so right to the point in detecting
my pa's condition. u see, early detection is the key to sepsis. plus the
discount we got because of tita doc. :)

and yes, treating open wounds immediately does help. bacteria
is everywhere and when it enters your bloodstream and all other
elements are ripe, better start praying for the best....
